Dennis W. Voigt

Dennis Voigt is the founder of DWV Advisors, an investment advisory firm built on decades of experience in accounting, finance, and evidence-based portfolio design. He combines deep technical expertise with a grounded, human approach to helping clients align their money with the lives they want to lead.

Dennis began his career in public accounting with a Big Four firm after earning his BSBA in Accounting from the University of Vermont. While at the firm he obtained his CPA license, and later returned to UVM to earn his MBA before going on to add advanced designations including Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and Certified Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Over 24 years on the faculty at Saint Michael’s College, he served as a tenured professor and the first holder of the Lamarche Chair in Business, teaching and mentoring students while building a reputation for clear thinking, intellectual curiosity, and practical problem-solving.

His entrepreneurial work spans several firms he founded to better serve clients’ tax, financial planning, and investment needs. Through DWV CPA PC, Dennis has provided tax planning, financial planning, and management advisory services to closely held businesses and families across Vermont and other states. Seeing an opportunity to deliver more integrated, higher-value investment guidance to those clients, he launched what is now DWV Advisors in 2010 to offer coordinated investment counseling, advisory, and planning services for individuals, businesses, trusts, and retirement plans.

A key pillar of DWV Advisors is the Evergreen series of portfolios, which grew out of Dennis’s earlier work as founder of BMJ Software. In that earlier firm, he developed add-on tools for a leading AI, neural-network-based trading platform that were adopted by traders around the world, and that research directly inspired the systematic, research-driven approach behind today’s Evergreen Accumulation and Evergreen Distribution Portfolios.

Dennis has also contributed his financial and leadership skills to the broader community. Over the years he has served on the boards of several human service agencies and on a local school board, where colleagues repeatedly asked or elected him to serve in key roles including Treasurer, President, and Chair of the board. That experience reinforced his belief that sound financial stewardship is ultimately about improving people’s lives, not just managing numbers.

Outside the office, Dennis lives much of the same balance and independence he encourages for clients. He maintains an active life in Vermont, values time with his extended family (and a mischievous puppy), and plans to keep working as long as the work remains intellectually and emotionally rewarding—while steadily creating more room for travel, outdoor adventures, and the simple, meaningful moments that define a life well lived.
